Maine Agriculture Landscape

Michael Carvell has spent his entire career building businesses that last. As a small business president in Mars Hill, he owns and operates multiple companies across the agricultural, food manufacturing, and freight logistics industries–all run with a steady hand in the heart of Northern Maine.

Being an Aroostook county business owner is a defining characteristic of how he operates. His roots in this area shape everything, from the relationships he builds to the standards he holds himself to. His work has created real jobs, supported local commerce, and woven itself into the economic fabric of a region that doesn’t always get the attention it deserves.

Michael has been in business for over 38 years. It takes more than ambition to stay in business that long. It also takes consistency, the ability to adapt to changing markets, and the judgement to know what not to change even when everything around you is moving.

Time and time again, Michael Carvell has had to navigate real turbulence in the agriculture and transportation industries. Through it all, he refuses to compromise on the core values that got him started.

Clients and partners who work with Michael know they aren’t just hiring a service provider. They’re working with someone they can count on to be there next year, five years from now, and beyond. His longevity is the product of sound decision-making, a strong worth ethic, and a commitment to doing things right the first time.

Family business leadership

Michael Carvell doesn’t manage his businesses from a far-away office. He’s involved in the day-to-day, every day. The decisions that affect his customers and employees go through him directly, not through layers of management or corporate intermediaries.

He runs his companies with a family business mindset. This means that the people in his orbit are treated with loyalty and respect–whether they work for him, with him, or beside him in the community. For clients, working with a directly accountable business owner is increasingly rare. But with Michael, it’s simply the standard.

Active Outdoor Lifestyle

Although his work is undeniably central to who he is, there’s more to Michael Carvell than work. When he steps away from his businesses, he leads an active outdoor lifestyle that moves with the seasons.

Winter in Northern Maine means snowmobiling and skiing, often at Big Rock Ski Area, and Michael takes full advantage of everything the area has to offer when the snow flies. In the summer, he enjoys golf, boating, and water sports. Michael splits his time across the state, with connections to Portland and Falmouth, as well as Gilford, NH–equally at home in rural Northern Maine and along the more active coastal communities further south.

As a passionate New England sports fan, he enjoys football, basketball, hockey, and baseball. Live music and concerts are part of the mix too, and when travel comes calling, he answers. Michael Carvell works hard, gives generously, and lives fully. For him, that work-life balance is the key to who he is.
